Tampa International Airport (TPA) - Guide to Tampa (TPA) Airport

Tampa is extremely accessible no matter how you choose to travel. By road, the city can be reached from the east on I-4 and highway 60, while from the north and south it can be reached on highway 301. The Greyhound bus company has a stop at Tampa and services run directly from Miami, Orlando, Sarasota and Gainesville. Amtrak also provides regular services to Tampa.

Travel within Tampa is a breeze as the city has excellent local bus services and recently reintroduced its streetcar service for short inner city hops, a great option for a day of local sightseeing. Tampa has a reliable taxi service; however, unlike other big American cities, you must call ahead of time to arrange for a taxi rather than hail one in the street.

The Tampa International Airport is a modern facility only seven miles from downtown and is reputed to be one of the best in the US in terms of efficiency and customer services. The airport offers regular shuttle bus services to hotels in the city, as well as car rental services, a popular option among those who wish to extend their trips into the surrounding areas such as nearby St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Orlando.
